New delhi: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has clarified an important point regarding the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process. The Commission held a key meeting on Saturday to review the process and address concerns related to notices being issued to voters.
According to the ECI, voters who receive notices under the SIR process do not necessarily have to appear personally before the authorities for the inquiry. Instead, voters can submit the required declaration along with Form-6, as specified by the Commission.
The clarification is expected to provide relief to voters who may face difficulties in attending verification proceedings in person. Many voters have been concerned about the procedures to be followed after receiving SIR notices, particularly regarding personal appearance and submission of documents.
The Election Commission has indicated that the prescribed documentation can be used to complete the required verification process.
