New Delhi: Rahul Gandhi launched a sharp attack on the Central government over the recent fuel price hike, accusing the Modi administration of placing an additional burden on the common people.
Reacting to the increase in petrol prices, Rahul Gandhi said that citizens are being forced to pay the price for what he described as the “mistakes” of the government. He alleged that the latest hike has delivered another “petrol shock” to the public at a time when inflation and rising living costs are already affecting households across the country.
“The people are paying for the mistakes committed by the Modi government,” Rahul Gandhi stated. He further claimed that the current increase is only the beginning and that the remaining burden would be collected “in installments” in the coming days.
The Congress leader argued that rising fuel prices have a direct impact on transportation costs, which in turn leads to higher prices for essential commodities. According to him, the increase in fuel rates will further intensify the financial strain on middle-class and lower-income families.Rahul Gandhi also criticized the Centre’s economic policies, alleging that the government has failed to provide relief to ordinary citizens despite repeated concerns over inflation and unemployment. He said the Congress party would continue to raise the issue at both political and public platforms.
Fuel prices have once again become a major political issue, with opposition parties questioning the Centre over taxation and pricing policies. Meanwhile, the government has maintained that international crude oil prices and global economic conditions influence domestic fuel rates.
The latest remarks from Rahul Gandhi are expected to intensify the political debate over inflation and cost of living ahead of upcoming political campaigns and parliamentary discussions.
